What is a species or a genus that has had its scientific name changed due to new discoveries in technology?
try looking up Amphioxus

people used to think it was its own species but it turned out that it's the larval form of a Lamprey. they have completely different ways of living and the larval form is relatively long lived.
Reply:The brown bears used to be split among many species. it seemed as if every time a museum got a new specimen, it was described as a new form. Further study showed that these were just individual variants and the bears were lumped into the same species.
