i think i have an addiction to just being addicted. Like, at one point i was addicted to myspace. But when i decidwd i no longer NEEDED to be on it. I shook and cried because i NEEDED to have something to obsess over.

Can you be addicted to being addicted to stuff? is there a scientific name for it?
Yes

There is such a thing as an addictive personality.

If you have this type of personality it is easy for you to become addicted to addictive substances, food, habits and even to certain people.

Google: addictive personality

it is a real eye opener.
Reply:An "addictiver personality" is a trait-yes, but I would look more at the word 'obsession'. OCD basically says that you have an "obsession" to do a certain thing that would be called a "compulsion".

It sounds like you just obsess on things easily or you have many obsessions.

If it really bothers you here are somethings that might help.

The best way to treat this is to set limits for yourself. So if you know you love myspace-which is totally fine-set a limit for yourself and say, 'Ok, I;m going to get on myspace for 20 minutes and then I'm going to ___________." Make sure you think of an actual task to do when you are done so that you have something you need to get to.

If you find this hard to stick to, set small goals with little things that aren't obsessions to you. Like if you read the paper, practice by setting a time limit on that.

You can even set a timer if that helps to remind you because sometimes when we get obsessed with things we lose track of the world outside! :)

Let me know if you want some other ideas to help.
