What is the scientific name for mold?

Is there a scientific name for mold? If so, what is it? NO WEBSITES PLEASE! I just need the name. HURRY SINCE IT IS DUE TOMORROW!

What is the scientific name for mold?
Molds, or moulds, are fungi that grow in the form of mycelia and usually produce masses of spores.

There is no specific name for molds. They are called fungi for sure but unless you know the exact type of mold then you'd know the scientific name.

Some common molds are:

Neurospora crassa

Aspergillus nidulans

One of the most famous:

penicillin

Good Luck!
Reply:um.. fungi? im not sure

genus Rhizopus is the common bread mold

At this URL you will see that there are many different types of mold: http://wehomeinspect.com/Types_of_Mold.h...

There is also the cheese mold... the water mold.. the slim mold, etc etc and ALL have different scientific names
Reply:Fungus or fungi (fungi is the plural form of the word fungus).
Reply:There is no scientific name for all molds. "Penicillium," is the scientific genus of a common mold. Try that!
