What is the scientific name for a nose bleed?

Actually, better question, does a nose bleed have some sort of fancy medical name? If so, what.





And why are people afriad of nosebleeds? I just got sent home from school for having a really bad one and I freaked out every one in the office, and the police officer who works at my school wanted to call the EMTs!!!!!! I

Reply:Epistaxis, my favorite word! A nosebleed can be serious if it doesn't clot in about 20 minutes. In the world we live today many folks are more upset over the blood itself then what caused the bleeding.
Reply:I call em " A little red rhino ".
Reply:Epistaxis is the correct name for an uncontrollable nosebleed. They can be serious, but usually only in older people with a history of high blood pressure.
