What is or is there a scientific name for "sleep" the crusty yellowish material that you get in your eye's?

I was wondering if there is a proper name for it because it doesn't sound very convincing i think its just a nickname for something, does any-one know what it is and its scientific name? =) thanks

we (my sibs and I) call it "morning glory"...otherwise, eye crust and eye booger sound about right...

scientifically, you get an extra amount of this "stuff" when you get pink eye, so I looked up possible names on medicinet.com. All I got was "...a discharge that may be watery or may contain pus.", or "a moderate to large amount of discharge, usually yellow or greenish in color."
Reply:Eye googlie!
Reply:a gummy secretion of the eyes....
Reply:There is an obsolete word "gound"
Reply:In my family we always called it "sleepy man dust." Should it have a scientific name?
Reply:wat kind of a question is that? why? :S
Reply:lacrimal fluid [aka "tears"]

The tears back up, causing wetness or pooling. As the watery layer evaporates, a soft mucoid discharge accumulates, which can then dry and become crusty.
Reply:eye schmutz
Reply:my daughter calls it " puss"
Reply:eye crust
Reply:the scientific name is "eye boogers"
