Aperture increase. That's the only way you get it.

Reply:Resolution of a scope is limited by diffraction, and is based on the aperature (diameter) of the primary to about a magnification of 50 per inch. I don't know of any scientific name that you might be looking for.... but if you're actually asking about increasing magnification, that is done by either by lengthening the focal length of the primary, usually by auxillary lens such as a Barlow, or using a shorter focal length eyepiece, since magnification is the ratio of the primary focal length to the focal length of the eyepiece.
