Is there a scientific name for the point in which a river deposits into the ocean?
delta
Reply:delta
Reply:estuary
Reply:Delta, estuary, mouth

Any of those would do. The mouth is the end of the river. A delta is a patterned area of deposited silt and sand at the mouth of the river, and an estuary is an ecological environment created when the river deposits accumulate at the mouth, almost blocking off the river from the ocean.
Reply:Estuary.
Reply:that is an estuary or an estuarine environment. the point at which a river meets the ocean, where freshwater combines with seawater...
Reply:Its called the mouth of the river. The point where the river begins is called the source. The shape of the mouth can further classify it. If its triangular, it's called a Delta, and if it's narrow, its an Estuary.
Reply:Delta..
Reply:If the river forms a number of flow channels into the ocean (or sea), it's called a 'Delta' because of its shape.

A single inlet to the sea is called an 'Estuary'.
Reply:River delta.
Reply:Delta or mouth.

The water going into the ocean is called the discharge

of the river.
Reply:delta
Reply:the mouth of the river =)
